Violent video games create bad kids - it's an old adage at this point that most people have heard, many people ignore, and some people take too far. Well prepare yourselves kids because it may be getting moved back into the spotlight once again.

An Iowa state university study recently published findings that supposedly "proves conclusively that exposure to violent video games makes more aggressive, less caring kids."

The study was completed by a team of 8 researchers, and was using meta-analytical procedures (ahh yes, them) as well as previously published material to basically confirm that violent video games affect just about anyone who plays them in one way or another. If there was one positive fact that came out of the research it is that at least the researchers acknowledged that we're not talking about the difference between a serial killer and a priest here, but rather general tendancies towards bad behavior.

Ok, where to begin. Let's start with the obvious - if you're letting your 5 year old take a wack at Grand Theft Auto or Gear of War, then yes, you're an idiot. And if there are a significant enough number of parents who are at that level of stupidity I might even go as far as to support some new methods of keeping these types of games in the right hands. But honestly, what I am afraid of most from findings like these is that crazy people will use this as an excuse to go at game developers and ban titles.

I won't lecture you guys on my opinions here as you already know them, but please, discuss away ...
